Gowrie News

Updates and News from Gowrie Farm, Nottingham Road, KZN Midlands.

Junior Golf

We committed that 2012 would be our year for promoting junior golf at Gowrie Farm.  We are pleased with the response that we have had from Clifton on Friday afternoons,  with a number of juniors attending our clinic  from 14h30 – 16h30.  Any other primary school children from our district are welcome to attend these sessions.  We also have 8 boys from the Nottingham Road Combined School on a Wednesday afternoon, who are currently learning the game on the range and the practice facilities.  We are hoping that this year, a number of them progress to the course and end up with a handicap.

We would like to thank the members who have donated second-hand golf equipment for this cause and appeal to any of you that have spare / old clubs at home, to please drop them off with John or Deborah.  They really do greatly appreciate them!

We would also like to make mention of the following Gowrie Farm Juniors that have done themselves and us so proud recently:

Congratulations to Murray Greene on his personal best score of 84 at the Wild Coast Junior Champs and being placed first in his division.  Congratulations to Rigardt Albertse for shooting rounds of 81 and 82 at Port Shepstone and Margate. Both boys will be playing in the SA Ernie Els Championships later on in August.  Matt Saulez, Brendan Bergs, George Rowles, Keaton Bottriell and Jacques Swarts have all had some impressive results recently and we would like to congratulate them all on their achievements.

Our home grown professional, Daniel Greene, is having a good winter tour, with two top ten finishes in  Zambia and Swaziland.  We would like to wish him well for the rest of the season.
