Letter from the Chairman

The role of a Captain and his committee is to put the member golfing experience at the heart of what we do – always. So, as we reflect on 2012, we have much to celebrate – but some challenges remain.

2012 has seen our course mature wonderfully under the able management of Duncan and Debbie. We are ranked in the top 100 courses in SA at 54; the course becomes increasingly popular with the visiting public; golf rounds are up by 15% this year over last and the Pro Shop, under the able management of John, has a whole new fashion range!

Our challenges remain the ambience of the bar. We intend changing the configuration to encourage a more social vibe after the game and more social events for members and their families. The halfway house remains a challenge in achieving a turn-around time of 12 minutes. On busy days we will take meal orders at sign in, in the Proshop, or serve a set menu. On not so busy days, John and the clubhouse staff will hurry people along. I raise this, because during the holidays there is a tendency for players to ‘settle in’ over lunch. Your co-operation in this required is required.

There’s not much we can do about the weather, but I am assured by our local farmers that summer truly starts in December in Nottingham Road.

So, for those members spending the festive season in Nottingham Road, make as much use of our great facility as you can. Use the member allocated times, book early – and hit the ball solid!
