Numzaans have enjoyed a busy schedule in the first six months. Tuesday morning golf has been well supported during the summer and autumn months. The winter timetable will require adjustments to ensure the same level of support is maintained.
The golf club’s Centenary Week was a huge success, with our Numzaan golfers challenging Khehle’s down the road in the first biannual challenge. Our team did not disappoint, securing a one-point win over the Bosch Hoek team: 447 better ball points played 446. It was a sterling effort.
Numzaans hosted the club’s senior championship, which was won by Don Larter on May 30th. It was a difficult day, with bitterly cold conditions on the front nine and overall tough greens. Don maintained his consistent form for the year and sneaked home with 36 individual points. Well done, Don!
Forge Nottingham Road, along with their suppliers, customers, and staff, ensured that our annual Beef vs Dairy farmers golf day was taken to another level. On June 13th, 84 golfers participated in the second annual challenge, with both morning and afternoon fields. The event featured lamb on the spit, a disciplined auction, a bumper prize-giving, and extraordinary support from farmers and our community, which continued well into the evening. Notties pub ended up being the final resting place for a few over-enthusiastic golfers. The beef farmers showcased their skill set once again, taking the honors for the second consecutive year. John du Preez’s beef team amassed 767 better ball points compared to George Clark’s dairy team with 758 points. The challenge is set for 2024 when 120 golfers will battle on our new 18-hole course.
On Friday, August 4th, Numzaans will host the inaugural John Page Memorial Golf Day at Gowrie Farm. Please kindly book your fourballs directly with the pro shop.
