The Tom Morris Jug Tournament which was held over the weekend of the British Open , 20th and 21st of July, was a great success.  Not only did our local hero Ernie Els triumph at Royal Lytham and St Anne’s, but our local Farm Boys, captained by David St Clair,  took the honours in a three way tie, where the winning shot off the 18th that landed closest to the pin, won the  Tom Morris Jug.  Well done Brett Bouwer for  a magnificent winning shot.  It was a memorable weekend for those that played as the weather was outstanding, and the five out of town teams could experience a much warmer Nottingham Road than they have in the past.

Winners of the Old Tom’s Legacy return from their trip to Scotland

Greg McBey and Bruce Seago, the lucky winners of the Old Tom’s Legacy golf and fishing competition that was held at Gowrie Farm for the duration of 2011, left on their 10 day trip to Scotland on the 5th June.   They were accompanied by Guy Smith and later joined by Duncan Price.  From all accounts, they had a wonderful golfing experience.  They  played some great golf on the following courses:     Craighead, New Course St Andrews, Carnoustie, Turnbury, Western Gailles and Prestwick.   Some competitive golf was played between them on some of the most famous and beautiful courses Scotland has to offer, and Duncan proudly shot 76 at Prestwick!  In their words, the trip was…… “a trip of a lifetime”.
