FISHING
The Midlands Meander is one of the most popular fishing destinations in the country, with some of the best fishing waters in South Africa.
We welcome catch-and-release bass fishing at our main dam in front of the lodge. Additionally, our estate features two more dams stocked with trout, providing an opportunity for fly fishing enthusiasts. Please note that fishing equipment is not provided by the lodge.

The Midlands Meander is a prime destination for birding enthusiasts. Encompassing grassland hills, species-rich wetlands, and indigenous forests, the region boasts over 250 bird species, and is a rewarding area in which to see forest birds, grassland birds, water birds, and a selection of owls and raptors. The special sightings in the Midlands are the White-Starred Robin, Orange Ground Thrush, Cape Parrot, Grey Crowned Crane, Wattled Crane, Blue Crane, Denham Bustard, Orange Breasted Rock Jumper, Long Tailed Wagtail, Blue Swallow, and many more. There are various guided birding tours and bird hides that can be enjoyed in and around the area.
