Lady Captain's Report
Carmen Seele LADY CAPTAIN'S LETTER - HALF-YEARLY UPDATE
Since the opening of the course, the Ladies have enjoyed participating in the Gowrie Club Champs, our regular Wednesday morning and Monday afternoon golf events. The Ladies handicaps have certainly taken a hit, but I’m sure we will have the course under control soon. The new holes certainly seem to require a defensive approach.
Congratulations to our club champions! The Ladies playing in the Silver Division played medal. The categories were changed and a few Ladies were unwillingly bumped up to Silver! All in all, much fun was had!
OUR WINNERS:
Silver Division Gross: Rita du Plessis, runner-up Wilna du Plessis
Silver Division Nett: Noogs Spall, runner up Michelle Burger
Bronze, Pat van Eyk, runner-up Chantell Jancks.
On Monday afternoons the Ladies get together for a quick 9 holes. This is a great time to practice and a great opportunity for beginners to join. Thank you Michelle for organizing this!
Wednesday mornings, include some fun and some serious days. Once a month is a sponsored day, with great prizes and pizza and wine afterwards! Thank you to our sponsors! We have recently introduced an eclectic competition, and we will let you know the results at the end of the year! Thank you to Leigh for managing the admin on this.
The Gowrie Ladies League Team is currently tied for second place in the Midlands League together with Victoria Country Club. Midlands Golf Club currently holds the top spot with only 14 points between them. The last league march for the season will be held at Gowrie Farm in October. This promises to be an interesting day as many of the ladies have not had the opportunity to play the new course yet. Good luck to the Gowrie Ladies! Thank you to League Captain Dee for all your efforts!
We look forward to hosting a field of around 90 Ladies for the Ladies Golf Festival at Gowrie Farm in September this year. This is held over two days, the 25th and 26th of September 2024. The theme for this year is Mama-Mia, with a dress-up themed dinner hosted at the Club. Lots of golf to be played and even more fun to be had! We certainly hope our visitors enjoy the course!
Other upcoming events also include the Estcourt Open Day on the 3rd of September, the Midlands Regional Champs on the 15th of September, Inter-town on the 7th of October and the MGC Open Day on the 7th of November 2024.
We welcome all Ladies to join us, young and old, experienced and beginners. You won’t find a better place to play golf!
Hope the weather improves soon and we will see you on the course!
Kind regards
Carmen Seele
