Numzaans Co-Captain's Report
Gary van Eyk & George Clark NUMZAANS CO-CAPTAIN'S LETTER - SEPTEMBER 2025
Senior golf at Gowrie Farm continues to be well supported, with our group now totalling 91 members. Despite the chilly winter, our seniors continue to brave the conditions for Tuesday golf. The extended course remains a big drawcard for visitors, who join our Tuesday outings whenever possible.
The coming months are busy, with the bi-annual challenge against Khlehles on 14 October at Gowrie, and again on 25 November at Bosch Hoek. The Dairy vs Beef Farming Community Golf Day is confirmed for 12 November. The Numzaans’ annual challenge against our ladies’ section is scheduled for Wednesday, 17 September.
Congratulations to our ladies’ section, who have just won the Midlands League for the first time. Our golfers can be sure the ladies are eager to make up for previous years when the Numzaans only just edged ahead! Hopefully, a ladies’ and seniors’ golf day can still be scheduled at St Catherine’s in Greytown before year-end.
New golf shirts have been ordered from Jonsson Workwear for our members, ensuring we are well turned out for the activities ahead.
Your committee welcomes Allen Trollip to the team, who will assume treasurer duties to ensure good governance in our financial affairs. Allen is a regular Numzaan and has retired to the village following a distinguished career as a De Beers Executive. A special thank you to fellow Numzaans Pete Laburn, Garry Barlow, and Gary Hardy, who have all assisted with Tuesday golf when Gary and George have been away travelling.
Finally, a heartfelt thanks to our Golf Captain, Anthony Barnard, for his ongoing support of senior golf at Gowrie, and for championing an incredible benefit golf day in honour of our late Golf Professional, Phil Simmons.
George & Gary
