Phil Simmons will always be remembered as a cherished part of the Gowrie Farm story. Joining us in May 2019 as Director of Golf, his impact was immediate and transformative. What began as a modest 11-hole country course soon stepped into a new league under his guidance – a testament to his experience, leadership, and unwavering love for the game.

More than a golf director, Phil was a mentor, a friend, and a builder of community. He brought heart and humour to every tee box and conversation, leaving lasting connections wherever he went. Together with his beloved Joan, he nurtured our ladies’ section from the ground up, helping it become one of the most vibrant and admired in KwaZulu-Natal – a legacy that continues to flourish.

Phil leaves behind more than a role fulfilled. He leaves a legacy of character, care, and quiet excellence that shaped Gowrie Farm in ways both seen and felt. We honour his memory with deep gratitude, and he will be deeply missed.
