A Word from the Golf Director: Reflecting on 2025, Looking Ahead to 2026

2025 marked a significant chapter in the story of Gowrie Farm. From hosting a Sunshine Tour event to celebrating the camaraderie and achievements of our members, the year reflected both progress and pride — on and off the course.

Reflecting on 2025

2025 was an exciting and fun-filled year for Gowrie Farm. We had the privilege of hosting our first Sunshine Tour event, the Vodacom Origins of Golf, bringing together South Africa’s leading professionals alongside international players. The tournament not only showcased the quality of the course, but positioned Gowrie Farm among South Africa’s top-tier golfing venues.

The event was won by Hayden Porteous at 7-under par, with a course record 64 highlighting the standard of play. On a personal note, it was a pleasure to reconnect with old friends, familiar faces and to witness the rise of South Africa’s emerging golf talent.

A Strong Membership Year

From a members’ perspective, 2025 was filled with competition, camaraderie and memorable moments. Our members participated in tournaments and events across South Africa, achieving numerous victories and accolades.

Congratulations to Trevor Saulez, our 2025 Club Champion — claiming his fifth title — and to Missy Hughes, our Ladies Club Champion, securing her first championship victory.

A special thank you to our Captains, Anthony Barnard and Deidre Clarke, and committee members Pete Laburn and Colin Hardie, for their leadership and dedication throughout the year.

Looking Ahead to 2026

2026 promises even more to look forward to at Gowrie Farm.

The Crofts — Opening March 2026

The Crofts will open on 1 March 2026, offering golf groups a truly unique stay-and-play experience. With nine self-catering cottages, 18 rooms and accommodation for up to 36 guests, The Crofts provides an exceptional offering tailored specifically to groups.

At the heart of the development is King’s Barn, a purpose-built clubhouse and gathering space where guests can relax, reflect on their round, or host events — all in complete privacy. From golf weekends to weddings, conferences or sporting gatherings, The Crofts is designed to adapt effortlessly.

Continuing to Refine the Experience

Beyond the launch of The Crofts, we look forward to hosting an increased number of member and guest events, while continuing to refine and enhance one of South Africa’s most considered golf experiences.
